The Spring House

The spring house may have been built earlier than the gristmill, possibly as early as 1734. A spring house was used to refrigerate meats, milk, and other perishables throughout the year.

The spring house was built below ground, on top of a natural spring, which allowed the spring water to flow through the structure, keeping it at a cooler temperature.
